Nestled in the heart of Edmonton at 7727 85 St, Korean Village Restaurant offers an immersive and authentic Korean barbecue experience that transports diners straight to the bustling streets of Korea. This family-owned gem has proudly served the community since 1990, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere where every visit feels like a gathering with close friends and family.
Specializing in Korean BBQ and buffet-style dining, the restaurant is renowned for its "cook your own meat" concept, where guests can savor an array of perfectly marinated meats and fresh vegetables grilled right at their table. The selection impresses with tender cuts of beef, pork, and seafood, each boasting deep, savory marinades that deliver rich, lingering flavors with every bite. The experience of grilling your own meat adds a tactile, interactive element that’s both engaging and satisfying.
Stepping inside, you immediately notice the distinctive decor that beautifully balances comfort with cultural charm. The subtle glow from fluorescent lights cleverly conceals the hood fans, maintaining an intimate, homey vibe that makes you forget you’re in Edmonton. It’s as if the restaurant has crafted a cozy Korean neighborhood spot, inviting you to slow down, relax, and savor not just the food but the moment itself.
One of the standout aspects of Korean Village Restaurant is the exceptional hospitality. Patrons repeatedly praise the attentive service from the owners, a lovely elderly couple who have nurtured the restaurant for over three decades. Their genuine warmth shines through their frequent check-ins, topping up grills, and even surprising guests with complimentary servings of fried rice and ice cream dessert, enriching the dining experience with heartfelt care.
While the restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat format at $41 per person, it’s worth noting that the generous portions and quality of food make it an excellent value for those eager to indulge in authentic Korean barbecue. For diners seeking an added touch of fun, karaoke is available, adding a lively cultural flair to your evening.
Whether you’re a Korean cuisine aficionado or a newcomer, Korean Village Restaurant delivers an honest, humble, and flavorful journey into Korean BBQ. The tender, smoky meats, the cozy ambiance, and the genuine hospitality come together to create not just a meal, but a memorable experience that will keep you coming back—even if it means traveling a little farther for a taste of something special.
Despite this location being really far from home, it was worth the visit. They had a nice selection of meats and seafood, and you can tell they marinaded the meat well as the flavours lasted, post grill. The decor is interesting here. It makes you feel like you're somewhere else almost... With the hood fan hidden inside the florescent lights and the small, homey vibe. Apparently there is karaoke and drinks upstairs which we have yet to experience, but a friend mentioned he was able to book it out once. Everyone I know who has been here before has had a positive experience and I'm one more to that list. As satisfying it is to eat all you can, save room for the cinnamon bread and ice cream. It is delicious and is a nice refreshing taste at the end of all that meat.
Great little hidden gem! Feels like being in Korea and going to a neighbourhood , family owned restaurant. Homey and delicious. Some of the marinades were so good! We loved the experience and enjoyed everything we ate! I only wish they had more options for dining. They only do all you can eat, and the current price is $41/person. We're not big meal people so it didn't feel like we ate $40 worth of food. It does come with lots of sides, fountain drinks, and ice cream for dessert though! So if you can eat a lot in one sitting you'd enjoy it! However, having some options, like ordering one plate of meat, would make it easier for us to support the restaurant more! At this price we won't be able to go often.
Korean Village Restaurant is a hidden gem! This charming family-owned spot has been run by a lovely elderly couple from Korea for 30 years. The warm hospitality of the owner, who served us with such care, truly made our experience special. She frequently checked on us, ensured our pan was refreshed, and generously replenished the meats for us. The menu offered plenty of delicious meat options, and the atmosphere was both cute and authentic. We loved the traditional seating area with cushions—it felt like visiting a favorite grandma's home! The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food and service. I especially liked the spicy lamb and the kimchi soup. It was just the right amount of spice to tingle the tongue without numbing it. I also noticed how clean and well-maintained the kitchen area looked, which added to our confidence in dining here. Overall, we had a wonderful time and can’t wait to return!
Blown away by this little Korean BBQ restaurant! I was skeptical by the other reviews but I’m so satisfied with my experience here! I cannot believe this restaurant has been serving the Edmonton community since 1990! This is a honest, authentic, humble little restaurant that I stumbled upon recently and if I can give them more stars I definitely would! Here’s why! True to the basics! In KBBQ culture it’s important to have good quality ingredients. Their meat is seasoned well, not over seasoned and the cuts were beautiful. The pork belly slices were well portioned between fat and meat. They bring oil and flavour to the grill! My favourite was the squid (not common anywhere else?) All you can eat! Truly means all inclusive! With soft drinks, selection of hot food and yummy desserts! No hidden fees, it’s simple and no fuss. When you go in, you start eating! 90 mins is plenty of time to eat till you’re stuffed. Like other all you can eat places, this restaurant makes sure customers don’t waste food with their food waste fee (only applied if you are not responsible with your plate)! Atmosphere and Culture. From the Korean decor and homely atmosphere to the actual KBBQ grilling experience, it made me feel like I wasn’t in Edmonton freezing in the middle of winter. They lasted from 1990 until now for a reason! They are doing an amazing job creating an amazing dining experience. Please visit and support this little hidden gem in our city and give them an amazing review. The owner is so kind and I can feel the love and care they’ve given to this place. I’m so proud of the owner and staff for this wonderful restaurant they’ve created. I look forward to returning next time!
First time here. This is a hidden gem. It's been here since 1990. Amazingly very delicious. The owner served us with a smile and very welcoming. They freshly fried rice and served us. It's delicious. Customer were also offered ice cream as desert. Lots of parking spots. Definitely will come again.
Great food and selection. Good service. Meat was fresh and marinated. Kimchee was bomb. Reasonable pricing. Will come back!
It's a hidden gem in Edmonton. I was a bit worried by the negative one-star reviews, but it was honestly such a nice experience. The restaurant has such a homey feel, it feels as though you're being transported to Korea! The AYCE had 9 selections of meats/seafood to choose from which was more than enough. It was very clean, and the owner would make sure to switch out our grill once it got all burnt up. We went on a Tuesday evening, and it was moderately busy, but cozy. There were a couple of tables that had people who arrived before us and the owner wasn't strict with the time limits. I saw a couple of reviews that mentioned the time limit, I'm assuming they've never been to an all-you-can-eat because it's a standard?? On that note, they have a soda machine which means unlimited drinks, and they include free ice cream! Both the mango and strawberry ice cream was to die for; they were creamy and weren't overpoweringly sweet! I preferred the strawberry one though! All in all, I think it's a great date spot! Go on a weekday for fewer people and the best service, make sure you salt and pepper your meats as well, and enjoy!
